Captivated by the sense of motion and the freedom that comes through creative play and somatic exercises this was a delightful and liberating project to undertake. The word “Unfurling” kept coming to mind. Not being a sailor, I looked up the meaning and learnt that it is “to make or become spread out from a rolled or folded state, especially in order to be open to the wind”. I believe having an open-minded perspective combined with curiosity can take or move us to places we never imagined. At the very least, we can gain momentum and by taking action, a change can come about, just like what the wind brings. Incorporating fabric really was an extension and expression of our emotions, triumphs and challenges. Such a powerful experience as these brave women ventured to a place of gratitude, playfulness, curiosity and their inner selves.
